Radiesse

Long Lasting Deep Wrinkle and Facial Fold Correction

Radiesse - Long lasting deep wrinkle and facial fold filler

Wrinkles, light folds and thin lips can be corrected with various dermal fillers - Restylane and Juvederm being the most popular to date. Yet, for high frequency muscle movement areas, such as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines, a different product works better. Dr. Cobos finds that FDA-approved Radiesse is the perfect filler for deeper folds in areas that get a constant muscle workout. It corrects better with less product, lasts longer and feels as natural as your own skin.

Dr. Cobos recommends Radiesse for

  • Nasolabial Folds - Laugh lines
  • Marionette Lines
  • Non-surgical Nose reshaping Nasal Defect Correction, and Nasal Tip Projection
  • Bridge Augmentation

Originally known as Radiance, Radiesse has been used extensively around the world with long-lasting natural-looking and natural-feeling effects. In some instances Radiesse correction is still seen at 2 years after injection.

Special Radiesse advantages include:

  • A biocompatible product that does not require pre-testing
  • Stimulates your natural collagen production for longer results
  • Provides immediate full-correction
  • Degrades gently and evenly over time

Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel that is injected into your skin as simply as any other skin filler.

The microscopic spheres and the water-gel suspension provide a scaffolding. Your own tissue grows into this matrix, keeping the injected material in place. It stays soft and pliable and feels like your own skin. It is especially suitable for deep folds that require a more dense, durable filler product that is injected into the deeper layer of your skin.

Longevity: The microspheres of CaHA have been shown to last up to seven years clinically. Radiesse should provide a long lasting correction, however individual results may vary, affected by your age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity.

"I feel that it's really good for someone who has lost some weight because it takes away from the sunken look in the cheeks and it also ma ke you look a lot younger. If I can take the small inconvenience of pain anyone can handle it. It healed really fast. It's like a mini facelift with no recovery time."

What are Radiesse treatments like?

A simple out-patient procedure, your Radiesse injections are very similar to those of fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane. The procedure takes about 15 minutes. Any injection discomfort is minimized or eliminated by use of a topical cream (ELA-Max). Pain blocks may also be performed immediately before the procedure. Following the simple injections, you may immediately return back to daily activities, however, treatment sites may be swollen for 1-2 days. There is also potential for bruising at the injection site, which are easily covered with makeup.

Is Radiesse effective for men as well as women?

Our patients certainly think so. Here are comments and photos of JW - another of our wonderful patients.

“I didn’t think I needed it, but turning is 50 around the corner and so I gave it a try. The result is great, it took ten years off my face, its a great procedure. I cannot imagine any male trusting anyone one but a Dermatologist to do cosmetic work and Dr. Cobos is an incredible Dermatologist with a magic touch for cosmetic work, she is caring, professional and detail oriented.”

How long will my Radiesse results last?

Depending on the areas treated, most of your correction should last many months, or even years. Radiesse patients usually see results that last between 1 to 2 years. Touch up treatments may be necessary to maintain your desired level of correction and are easily acquired with the use of Radiesse mini-syringes made for this purpose.

Can other filler products and treatments be used along with Radiesse?

Yes - Here's more information about other wrinkle fillers. Restylane or Juvederm may be used as layers to fill the more superficial lines and wrinkles on your face. There is no restriction to using additional fillers.

Most patients elect to add other fillers to obtain a "full effect" in surrounding areas such as the vertical lip lines referred to as smoker's lines and small lines and wrinkles at the corner of the mouth.

Although some offices elect to use Radiesse in the lips, Dr. Cobos does not use Radiesse for lip augmentation. Lip augmentation is better performed with Juvederm or Restylane. Because of the the unique movement of lip muscles, there is the potential for nodule formation in the lip itself. Consequently, Dr. Cobos will not use Radiesse in this sensitive area.
